What is GI MAP Testing & Why I Use it With All My Clients

I do not recommend food sensitivity tests.

I do not recommend Viome microbiome testing.

I do not recommend zonulin testing.

I do not recommend GI 360.

I DO RECOMMEND THE GI MAP Test.

What is the GI MAP Test?

The GI-MAP at-home stool test, is a functional testing option that gives us a comprehensive picture of what the inner workings of our digestive function looks like at a given time.

This is the stool test that I use with all of my clients in my program The Bloat Free Method. All my clients love getting their results back and learning why they struggle with their gut symptoms.

I love this test because it provides insights into multiple aspects of gut health from viral pathogens, to bacteria (both beneficial and opportunistic flora), parasites/fungus, digestive function, immune function, and more. It can give us quantitative data about what is happening in the gut so we don't have to guess about why a certain symptom like bloating, constipation, gas or heartburn might be occurring.

These markers give us insight into whether our digestive secretions are working for us optimally, whether there is inflammation in the gut, and more. Once we have this information, I work with clients to create a protocol uses natural methods of rebalancing the gut:

  • Nutrition and food choices

  • Herbs and supplements

  • Lifestyle and habits

Here is a sample report.

The GI MAP test does NOT tell you which foods to eat or avoid based on your stool, aside from the anti-gliadin marker. This test is used to get to the root cause of your gut symptoms. This is a medical test used when people have symptoms of digestive disorders.

GI-MAP Stool Test

  • Identify the cause of your digestive upset versus wasting time and money guessing and potentially supporting the wrong cause.

  • Detects H.pylori and virulence factors. Less sensitive H. pylori tests come back negative but the highly sensitive GI-MAP is able to identify the quantity of bacteria when this becomes problematic.

  • The best test if you have bloating, constipation, diarrhea, altered bowel movements, heartburn, acid reflux, fatigue and IBS.

  • The best test if you have chronic inflammation, hormone imbalances and autoimmune disorders.

  • This test identifies oppotruntistic and normal bacteria flora, as well as candida, vital pathogens, bacterial pathogens, immune response, inflammation and parasites. Having enough good bacteria is just as important as ensuring there isn’t any dysbiosis

  • SIgA- how is your body responding to invaders. This is the defence system in your gut. It’s also linked to stress.

This type of testing has benefits over traditional stool testing because it is highly sensitive and provides specific information about not just whether a microbe is present, but how much of that microbe is present.

The GI-MAP was designed to detect microbes that may be disturbing normal microbial balance or contributing to illness as well as indicators of digestion, absorption, inflammation, and immune function.

I paid for additional training to offer this GI-MAP test and be able to interpret it so my clients reduce those unwanted gut and hormone symptoms FASTER! This saves money in the long run because we have a targeted nutrition, lifestyle and supplement approach.

Testing your stool can positively impact your hormone health too. It goes beyond any digestive symptoms. If there is inflammation present from dybiosis then your hormone levels will shift. Supporting the gut will improve your thyroid, sex hormones and cortisol, a stress hormone.
